Whether you have a large or relatively small yard, this review compares the Best Leaf Vacuum Mulcher Blower you can buy in 2025.

If you’ve never used one before, leaf vacuums bag leaves and debris quickly and include a mulcher and a leaf blower—all in the same tool.

According to Reddit , leaf blower vacuums achieve much more today than 10 or 15 years ago.

The best leaf vacuum mulcher models now utilize a 4-in-1 process of vacuuming, mulching, bagging, and blowing leaves—and do it all in one piece of equipment. Now that’s progress!

What is a Leaf Vacuum Mulcher Blower?

A leaf vacuum-mulcher-blower is a fantastic 3-in-1 power tool that performs just as described. This powerful type of lawn equipment easily vacuums, mulches, and collects leaves and other debris into a large collection bag, or the power switch can be reversed and used as a leaf blower.

BEST LEAF VACUUM MULCHER BLOWER (2025)

Editors Pick: Black & Decker BV6600 “Electric”

BLACK+DECKER Leaf Blower, Vacuum and Mulcher 3-in-1, 12 Amp, 250 MPH, 400 CFM (BV6000)

Regarding an electric leaf vacuum, the BLACK+DECKER BV5600 is one of the best and is our Editors’ Pick. It runs on a “corded” 12-amp electric motor that provides ample power for most homeowners’ work.

And, because it isn’t battery-powered, it also never runs out of juice!

The BV5600, in our opinion, provides the best performance in its class and somehow does it at the best price!

This model is hands-down one of the best electric leaf blower vacuums. It is powerful enough to tackle jobs that many other units can’t.

While blowing leaves is relatively easy, many lesser models fall short regarding vacuuming and mulching. Speaking of mulching, the BV5600 has also won several good accolades from those who use it to clean up leaf debris with little difficulty.

Pros:

  • Maximum speed of 250 miles per hour
  • The air volume of 400 cubic feet per minute
  • 16:1 mulch volume reduction
  • Two-speed settings
  • 1.5-bushel bag capacity

Cons:

The only criticism we have of the BLACK+DECKER BV5600 is that it sometimes struggles with wet leaves.

While raking up leaves to loosen them certainly can be a hassle, this is a drawback that most electric blowers and even lower-end gas blowers have in common.

Ideally, to avoid this issue, it’s best to blow, vacuum, or mulch leaves shortly after they fall on a dry day.

Runner-Up “Electric”:  Toro 51619 – Ultra plus Vacuum Mulcher

Toro 51621 UltraPlus Leaf Blower Vacuum, Variable-Speed (up to 250 mph) with Metal Impeller, 12 amp,Red

There are sometimes too many great models in evaluating the best leaf vacuum mulcher in each category.

This was especially true in the “corded” electric category, but for us, the Toro UltraPlus Leaf Blower Vacuum easily comes in at a very close 2nd Place.

Like the BV5600, this Toro model is run by a Corded 12-amp electric motor, which gives it tons of power and allows it to handle most residential projects efficiently.

Pros:

  • Maximum speed of 250 miles per hour
  • Maximum blower volume of 350 cubic feet per minute
  • Maximum vacuum volume of 410 cubic feet per minute
  • Two-speed settings
  • 97 percent leaf volume reduction on the mulching mode

Cons:

One criticism of this blower is that small twigs are light enough to be sucked up in vacuum mode at full power. This debris can cause clogs that ultimately prevent the vacuum from working.

To avoid this, it’s best to keep the vacuum in a lower setting when working around sticks or to clear the area where you’ll be working on twig debris before you start.

Reviews of the Toro UltraPlus have been highly positive, with many users citing its power and effortless handling as significant advantages.

Most of us are very pleased with the unit’s vacuuming capabilities, sufficient to pick up leaves and other unwanted debris yet gentle enough to use in mulched beds without removing cover material.

Owing to the unit’s lightweight, the Toro UltraPlus is an excellent option for users who prefer a lighter weight and need the right amount of power but don’t feel comfortable holding a heavier gas blower for long periods.

The Only edge for our Editors’ Pick – the Black & Decker BV5600 is that it is a little less expensive than the Toro 51619. You could go either way and be thrilled with your purchase.

Best Value:   Greenworks 24312 – 40V Battery-Powered Vacuum Mulcher

Greenworks 40V (185 MPH / 340 CFM / 75+ Compatible Tools) Cordless Brushless Leaf Blower / Vacuum, Tool Only

While gas-powered blowers offer more power, they can be more cumbersome than electric blowers.

For this reason, many homeowners choose one of the best battery-powered leaf vacuums, such as the Greenworks 24312 Cordless Leaf Vacuum – 40 Volt model.

Powered by a strong 4.0 Ah—40-volt lithium-ion battery, the Greenworks battery leaf vacuum offers more power and run time than your average battery leaf blower.

So why is this model Considered an “Upgrade” Leaf Vacuum? While the tool is under $75.00, you must purchase the Greenworks Lithium-Ion 40-volt battery and charger separately.

(if you don’t already own Greenworks). This raises the purchase price to around $215.00 on Amazon.

Pros:

  • The maximum speed is 185 miles per hour
  • Up to 60 minutes of runtime
  • Push-button starting
  • Six-speed settings
  • Battery interchangeable with other 40-volt Greenworks tools
  • Price includes Tool only – Battery and Charger sold separately at checkout

Cons:

While the Greenworks 40V is highly well-liked for its blowing capabilities, several users comment that it is a bit anemic when used for vacuuming.

Though it shouldn’t be a problem if you’re using it for a smaller yard, you may want a more powerful unit if you have a large yard or multiple properties to maintain.

The electric models such as the Black & Decker & Toro are more powerful.

In reviews of the Greenworks 40V blower vacuum, users often mention this machine’s reasonable power and versatile speed settings. The bag used when the blower is in vacuum mode also has a zipper mounted on the side, allowing it to be emptied without being detached from the unit.

This feature can be highly convenient. We were extremely pleased with this model’s quality and reliability.

Best Stand Up Leaf Mulcher: WORX WG430

Worx WG430 13 Amp Electric Leaf Mulcher

For those of you who have an extra-large lot or an over-abundance of leaves to get rid of, a leaf vacuum mulcher may be a bit “undersized” for your needs.

If so, you may be a candidate for the Worx WG430 Foldable – Bladeless – Electric Leaf Mulcher.  The Worx WG430 Leaf Mulcher is a very highly rated mulcher and takes the final spot in our list of Best Leaf Mulchers.

This product is a workhorse with a 13-amp motor, large feeder, and bag collection-ready attachments.

The WORX WG430 is an entirely different approach to our other five tested models above and is designed strictly for large-yard leaf mulching (not sticks, branches, or leaves).

The WORX features a bladeless string trimmer line, which mulches the leaves to achieve an 11:1 ratio and will shred up to 53 Gallons per minute.

While this machine can’t blow and pile up the leaves for you like our other Reviewed Models, you should consider a WORX Leaf blower WG59156 Volt Cordless Leaf Blower.

These two pieces of equipment are a formidable combo for tackling leaves in any yard.

WORX Leaf Mulcher WG430 Video:

Pros:

  • 13 Amp motor efficiently mulches up to 53 gallons of leaves per minute and deposits the debris into a bag (not included)
  • The flex-a-line bladeless system uses a thick trimmer line to achieve an 11:1 mulching ratio.
  • Tool-free, quick assembly and disassembly for convenient and compact storage. Line Diameter -0.09 inches. Cutting Diameter-13 inches
  • Features a clean air motor cooling system and an easy start-stop system
  • Includes 13 Amp Leaf Mulcher, 24 cutting lines, bag support ring, and manufacturer’s 3-year warranty

Cons:

The Worx WG430 Leaf Mulcher has a few criticisms, but like all other leaf mulchers, one that did crop up was the difficulty the unit had dealing with very wet leaves.

However, our tester replaced the original .096 string line from the manufacturer with a .095 gauge string line, which made mulching leaves quicker.

Another suggested taller foldable legs, but he retrofitted the legs with PVC pipe extensions to create the height he needed for using the large paper city collection bags below.

Best Electric (Corded) Blower Vaccum – WORX WG518 12 AMP

WORX WG518 12 Amp 2-Speed Electric Leaf Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum
Our pick for the Best “ELECTRIC” Vacuum Mulcher blower is the WORX WG518, a 12 AMP Electric (Corded) vacuum, shredder, mulcher, and blower with impressive quality and power.

As with most WORX products, the WG518 is an extraordinarily well-engineered and durable machine that can withstand the most challenging uses around the home.

PROS:

  • Best Priced Vaccum Blower Shredder in Our Reviews.
  • 3-IN-1 Blower/Vaccum/Shredder: Great for blowing or vacuuming debris during yard clean-up
  • Powerful 12 Amp Electric Motor: The high-velocity engine moves air at 250mph in volumes up to 450 CFM, displacing larger debris more effectively and increasing efficiency.
  • Best in Class: 16-to-1 Debris Reduction Ratio: Vacuum significantly reduces the size of leaves and other debris, meaning the bag requires less frequent emptying, and waste will be more compact for disposal.
  • Quickstart Technology: Spring-assisted coil reduces the effort required to pull-start the machine.
  • One switch to convert Blower to Vaccum
  • Cruise Control: Variable throttle with cruise control allows the operator to choose the force of the airstream and let the throttle finger rest.
  • Comfortable handle: Over-molded handle absorbs and reduces vibration.

CONS:

Electric Yard tools are limited in distance because they use an electrical extension cord.  The trade-off is electric motors offer a more powerful engine than many higher-priced battery-powered units.

The WORX Vacuum blower is designed for the right-handed user, and it may take a bit of getting used to if you happen to be left-handed due to the air intake location on the right side of the leaf blower.

However, it is the perfect configuration for right-handers!

The WG509 is also highly reliable and can be used for large jobs that take many hours of blowing or vacuuming.

WORX Leaf Vacuum | Best Home Gear

CONS:

Criticisms of the Worx WG509 Are the unit’s difficulty dealing with wet leaves. With lower airspeeds than some of its competitors’ models, the WG509 has difficulty handling leaves weighed with excess moisture.

This is common amongst all-electric models, but If you work on a dry day, you shouldn’t have any problems with leaf pick-up.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q:  How Do You Use a Leaf Vacuum?

A:  Whether you’re a new homeowner or just looking to upgrade your outdoor tools, a Leaf Vacuum (sometimes called a Leaf sucker) is a highly sought-after tool for modern lawn maintenance.

You can quickly rake the yard, collect, mulch, bag, and blow in one or all five easy steps, saving yourself the trouble of manual raking, bagging, and dragging leaves to the curb.

If you’re a “Dodgeball” fan – That would equate to the 5 D’s of Dodgeball – Dodge, dive, dip, duck….and Dodge 🙂

Of course, with the built-in Leaf Blower option, you can also blow off debris from garage floors, driveways, and sidewalks or even move light snow off concrete surfaces.

Q:  How Do You Clean Gutters with a Blower?

A:  If you’re not opposed to climbing a ladder and safely navigating around your roof, a leaf blower is the perfect tool for quickly blowing leaves out of gutters.

However, the leaves will still need to be picked up, and the gutter debris and water can splash on your siding and windows.

If you’re looking for a safer option for cleaning gutters, we highly recommend using this Leaf gutter tool* for blowers instead of climbing on a roof.

Q:  How do you use a Leaf Gutter Tool:

It’s relatively easy to use a leaf gutter cleaning tool and a safer and more accessible option for most homeowners to do this cleaning job.

Use a leaf gutter tool to clean the leaves out of your gutters without a ladder.  Check out this Universal Fit Leaf Blower/Vacuum Cleaning Kit for Gutters.

Q:  Which is Better, a Gas-Powered Or Electric Leaf vacuum?

A:  The most crucial decision you’ll need to make when choosing your blower is whether you want a gas-powered or electric model.

A gas leaf vacuum mulcher offers more power and versatility, while electric blowers provide easier starting and less maintenance.

If you choose a gas leaf vacuum, you’ll also need to know how to mix oil and gasoline and create the proper 2-cycle fuel mixture, which may also be a consideration.

Q:  What is the Best Leaf Vacuum for Pine needles and Acorns?

A:  While most of the Leaf Vacuum models in our review are well equipped to handle, leaves – Pine needles, and acorns are a little more stubborn to vacuum up quickly.

Because of their extraordinary power, the best leaf vacuum for pine needles and acorns is the Greenworks 40V cordless leaf vacuum or the Remington gas-powered leaf vacuum mulcher. Both of these models also work exceptionally well when cleaning up garage floors.

Q:  What is the Best Way To Use a Vacuum Mulcher Blower?

A: The best way to use your vacuum leaf blower is to decide “what” functions best suit the current season

You will set it up in the summer without a bag attachment and blow grass clippings, whereas, in the Fall or Spring, you can attach the vacuum bag to mulch and bag the debris.

If you’re using the tool primarily to mulch your leaves, a unit with a high bag capacity, like the Worx WG509, may be better suited to your specific needs.

Here are some great tips for using a Leaf Blower from StihlUSA.Com

Q:  Can I Use “Mulched Leaves” for Compost?

A:  One of the most “underrated” values of owning a leaf vacuum mulcher is the ability to gather and use fallen leaves for compost

Leaves are nature’s golden goose when it comes to a biodegradable – high nutrient source for use in composting – Oh, and every Fall, the leaves are free to use 🙂

A leaf vacuum mulcher will collect a perfectly mulched leaf pile – you add it to your compost pile.  Here’s a funny but informative TED Talk video on doing just that!

Conclusion

Before settling on one of these Best Leaf Vacuum Blower models, consider how each will work in your yard.

For instance, the Black & Decker BV5600 is the best hand-held tool if you have an average-sized yard and prioritize Value over Performance.

However, If you have a larger property and need to mulch a TON of leaves, the WORX WG430 Stand Alone Mulcher will give you the best combination of Mulching power and the longest run time for working at your house.

Lastly, if you need a Lightweight Vacuum, have a smaller lot to maintain, or don’t want to fuss with Cords or Gas, you may be better off going for the Greenworks 40 Volt cordless blower, which is at 5.3 lbs.

It is a model that almost anyone can handle comfortably.

Using a Leaf Vacuum mulcher during the heavy fall season will keep leaves well before the leaf piles that can accumulate in your yard.

In addition, after you’ve cleaned the bulk of your leaves, it will be much easier to mow your lawn and mulch the remaining leaves into your soil.
