There are TWO ways to install a Robot Mower, and it all depends on the Type of Robot Mower you purchase:
Option #1: “Wire-free” robot Mowers use GPS Satellite Tracking AI with a Mobile Connection to set up a virtual Map of your lawn.
Depending on lawn size, this can usually be completed within 10 – 15 minutes, and there are NO Boundary Wires to install underground.
Note: Wire-Free robot mowers cost a little more, but if you move and want to take your robot mower, you’ll be glad you went the wire-free route!
Option #2: “Boundary Wire” Mapping Robot Mowers: Incorporate a “continuous” ground wire near all the boundaries/edges, mapping your robot mower to only mow grass and avoid obstacles.
Boundary Wire Install: Pick One-of-Two Methods
Option A): Install Boundary Wire with Ground Spikes; set and secured with a Mallet approximately 30″ apart. While this method is far less time consuming than Option B, you risk losing the boundary wire if spikes are not secured deep enough.
TIP: Use a traditional Lawnmower to mow the boundary you’re going to “SPIKE”, no more than 2″ long, avoiding long grass, and allowing better ground spike penetration during installation.
